Hi there! My name is Ami Patel and I’m a cartoon addict!
As a Columbia College Chicago graduate in film and animation with a passion for writing, I dream about making people smile with my work. I love to write stories about magic, friendship, and adventure, but whether animation or screenwriting, my sole job is to make them want more. One day, I hope to take part in creating another epic, action-packed TV series like The Powerpuff Girls or Teen Titans.
If you're interested in collaborating with me, feel free to contact me at either:
The following is one of my favorite quotes from Pokémon:
"I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are."
I want to create imaginary worlds where inspirational messages such as the quote above resonate with my audience, where fans become so attached to a fictional character that seeing that character cry would make them want to cry too.
At this point in my life, I'm not really sure what I want to do later on. I enjoy editing, screenwriting, modeling objects and environments, designing, etc. Ideally, I see myself on the concept and story side of animation production or as one of the writers on the team.
However, I'm interested in publishing as well. Besides anime and comics, I'm also an avid bookworm. I crave stories of the fantasy and romance genre. Some of my favorite authors are Amanda Hocking, James Dashner, and Jamie McGuire. I can see myself as an editor for books or a graphic designer.
I've also always wanted to sing for an animated character. It all started with watching The Little Mermaid and singing along with Jodi Benson to "Part of Your World." Singing is my other passion and my music taste ranges anywhere from Barbie songs to upbeat dance music.
Oh, and one more thing! A little fun fact about my pen name, Mishty Masti just for curiosity's sake. My actual name is an extremely common Indian name. It's like the equivalent of John Smith, so I decided to go under a pen name at least for online purposes. Ami means "nectar" or in other words, sweet and "mishty" is another way to say that in Hindi, whereas "masti" means fun or mischief, so all in all, my pen name translates out to "sweet fun." :D
